David Tremlett

Brought up in Cornwall, in the United Kingdom, David Tremlett went through Art College in the late 1960s, finishing with a sculpture Degree at the Royal College of Art, London. He has shown in London since the beginning of 1970s at various galleries including the Institute of Contemporary Art and the Tate Gallery. Many different museums have mounted exhibitions including Tremlett’s work, such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Carrė D’Art in Nimes, the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Kestner Gesellschaft in Hannover and the Pecci Museum in Prato, Italy. He has also shown with many galleries in Europe, Japan, the United States, Australia and New Zealand and has made Wall Drawings in private and public spaces since the mid 70’s; he notes of his work that it “has always had a close connection with whatever space is around me, be it an empty desert or and empty wall, 4 walls or no walls, it’s this space I try to deal with.”
