Jan van der Ploeg

The Netherlands, 1959

Jan van der Ploeg lives and works in Amsterdam. He studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam (1982-1983) and subsequently a year at the Croydon College of Art in London. From 1983 until 1985 he attended the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. Van der Ploeg was winner of the Royal Award for Modern Painting in The Netherlands in 1990.

His work has been exhibited worldwide in several solo and group exhibitions, including The Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Dunedin, New Zealand, Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, USA, Mercedes Benz Showroom Gallery in Berlin and München, Germany, Zona Maco Mexico Arte Contemporaneo in Oaxaca, Mexico, Villa Mondriaan in Winterswijk, the Netherlands. Van der Ploeg’s work is part of several collections including the Daimler Art Collection in Berlin, Germany, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Ministry of Finance in The Hague, The Netherlands, Dutch Embassy in London, United Kingdom. His work is being represented by Gallery Gerhard Hofland in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Thomas Taubert Contemporary in Berlin, Germany, Klaus Benden Gallery in Köln, Germany, Gallery Hamish McKay in Wellington, New Zealand and Sarah Cottier Gallery in Sydney, Australia
